Rocky Mountain National Park is a paradise for those who love nature. With such a wide elevation range, you can find over 60 types of mammals and over 300 species of birds, and the majestic scenery includes forests, mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and unique stone formations that have to be seen to be believed!

Needless to say, the Rocky Mountain National Park is an amazing place to hike and today we’re going to share our top 3 Rocky Mountain hiking favorites with you. Along the way, we’ll tell you a little about each locale, just in case you might be considering a Rocky Mountain adventure of your own! https://www.aspire-tours.com/activities/hiking

Hear the Thunder of the Chasm Falls

If climbing isn’t your favorite part of a mountain hiking experience, but you love seeing animals in the wild and wouldn’t mind a majestic waterfall, then there’s a 2.8 mile hike that starts at the Old Fall River Road and will take you to the Chasm Falls.

This is one of those times that it’s good to have a guide. For instance, to maximize your chances of seeing the most local wildlife, the best time to come is in early spring and a good guide can show you areas like the Endovalley which tend to be full of moose at this time!

There’s also the added perk of an uncrowded waterfall, so you might well be able to hear the thunder of the 25-foot waterfall known as Chasm Falls while enjoying a yummy picnic nearby with someone special.

Savor the Surreal Beauty of Emerald Lake

Our next favorite is a 3.2 mile hike that sounds like an adventure from a fantasy novel. To get to the Emerald lake, you’ll cross through the Tyndall gorge, passing the Nymph and the Dream lake along the way until you arrive at your destination – The Emerald Lake.

While this hike is a little more intermediate, there are steps most of the way, and the view you’ll get at the lake itself is nothing short of fantastic. Unlike Chasm Falls, the best time to spot a little nature at Emerald Lake is during early parts of the summer – so be sure to ask around with some of the locals or find yourself a guide to help!

A Sky Pond Hike Has a Whole Lot to Offer

Our final favorite is the most robust of the hikes, but also one of the most rewarding. A 9 mile hike, don’t let the distance scare you off, because a Sky Pond Hike is one of the most amazing walkabouts you’ll ever have.

Crossing streams and rivers, you’ll get to see waterfalls, mountain views, and alpine lakes and when you get to Loch Vale and see the Sharks Tooth, Taylor, and Powell Peak in their full glory… Well, let’s just say the pictures don’t do them justice at all and we’ll leave it at that!

With a name like Sky Pond, you know that it’s going to be worth your while.

Let Aspire Tours Help You Custom-Craft Your Rocky Mountain Adventure

When you are considering a hike in a new location, like the Rocky Mountains, it’s best to have a guide on your side that knows the best seasons, nooks, and crannies of the area that you’re hoping to visit.

This can help to ensure that you can see the local wildlife, and also have a heads-up on what you might want to watch out for. What’s more, guides can help you to avoid crowds so that you won’t feel like you’re enjoying Nature in a crowded amphitheater.

At Aspire Tours, we can help you to custom-craft your own hiking adventure and we even have some tours of our own to help you make the most of your Rocky Mountain Experience.

With full day hiking excursions to places like the Garden of the Gods and Pike’s peak, to half-day experiences like our ‘Rocky Mountain Escape’ and the ‘Brews N’ Views’ specialty tour of scenic Boulder, there’s a little something for everyone.
