Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP):
The Rocky Mountain National Park is an hour and a half from Denver with an array of rivers and lakes to explore. The beauty of the RMNP, is that you are able to explore a lot of different water in one day. This would consist of fishing multiple creeks and lakes in one day. The species that can be found in the park are Brown trout, Rainbow trout, Brook trout, and cutthroat trout. The scenery is absolutely spectacular, as is the fishing. Given that these creeks are not controlled by dams, the fishery is wild and seasonal; meaning that you need to match the hatch, and work for your fish.
Located two and a half hours south of Denver, the Arkansas river is renowned for its immense population of trout, especially Brown trout. The one thing that makes this river so special is the amount of hatches that occur. You can fish year round from a boat or the banks, with mainly midges in the winter and stoneflies and caddis in the spring and summer. We have a mile of private water where the fish don’t receive constant pressure from the public.
